Singapore swallows its medicine

At Eu Yan Sang International, a 127- year-old producer of herbal brews and bird's nest soup, annual earnings have soared more than sixfold to 14.4 million Singapore dollars, or $9.1 million, since 2003. Shares of the company have gained 40 percent to 65 cents in the past 12 months. Bird's nest soup, made from the saliva of swifts, is said to bolster the immune system and prolong life. ...
